FCU Interdisciplinary Student Team Wins National Silver Award at 2026 MEAN WELL Smart Sustainability Technology Competition

A cross-disciplinary student team from Feng Chia University earned the National Silver Award at the 2026 SDG Sustainability Roadshow – Power Up! MEAN WELL Smart Sustainability Technology Competition, jointly organized by MEAN WELL Group and National Taipei University of Technology. The competition culminated in an award ceremony on May 1 after eight months of intensive competition involving more than 120 outstanding faculty members and students from universities across Taiwan. The FCU team distinguished itself with its project, “Terra A.I.R. System – Intelligent Environmental Emergency Response System,” successfully securing second place nationwide.

The Department of Automatic Control Engineering at Feng Chia University held its grand 50+ Anniversary Celebration on April 25, welcoming more than 300 alumni back to campus for a reunion. As the only academic department in Taiwan bearing the name “Automatic Control Engineering,” the department has built a distinguished legacy over the past half-century. This year, it added another milestone by becoming the first program in Taiwan to receive the EUR-ACE® label from the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (ENAEE), marking a significant achievement in engineering education.

Among 85 teams from 16 universities competing in the 2026 Millimeter-Wave Radar AI Creative Application Competition, students from the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science at Feng Chia University achieved outstanding results. Led by Associate Professor Chun-Hsiu Yeh, four student teams earned second place, third place, an honorable mention, and a finalist award, demonstrating the University's strengths in applying intelligent technologies to real-world challenges.
FCU Team Develops AI-Based Cardiac Imaging Recognition Technology, Wins Merit Award at AI CUP

Taiwan’s largest artificial intelligence competition, the Ministry of Education AI CUP Competition, held its awards ceremony on March 25 at the International Conference Hall of Academia Sinica. A student team from the Department of Information Engineering and Computer Science at Feng Chia University, led by Professor Pei-Jung Lin, earned the Merit Award in the competition category“Cardiac CT Image Segmentation II – Aortic Valve Object Detection.” The team, consisting of Hsiao-Yun Liu, Chia-Hao Lin, Hsiang-Yu Wen, and Chih-Cheng Wei, stood out among 536 teams nationwide to achieve this remarkable result.

As generative AI continues to drive industrial transformation, one of the most critical challenges for higher education is turning AI from a trending topic into a practical productivity tool. On March 25, Feng Chia University hosted the 2026 MATLAB® Day AI Campus Seminar in Room 418 of the College of Information and Electrical Engineering Building. Organized by the Office of Information Technology, the AI x MATLAB Faculty Learning Community, and TeraSoft, the official MATLAB distributor in Taiwan, the event focused on the theme of “Making AI Your Research Assistant.” The seminar attracted faculty members and students eager to explore how AI can help overcome barriers in programming and hardware development through standardized workflows.

Teams from Feng Chia University delivered an outstanding performance at the 22nd National Electronic Design Creativity Competition 2026, bringing home a total of ten awards. Most notably, Feng Chia students achieved a clean sweep of first, second, and third place in the Smart Big Data and Mobile App Category of the university division. In the Information and Communications Technology Category, Feng Chia teams also excelled, winning first place, third place, and several honorable mentions. These achievements demonstrated students’ ability to transform expertise in electronics, communications, and information technology into innovative solutions for real-world challenges.
Inaugural U-Impact Freshman Anchor Course Competition Showcases Practical Innovation from 21 Interdisciplinary Teams

On March 27, Feng Chia University hosted its inaugural U-Impact Sustainability Action Challenge, the capstone competition of the freshman Anchor Course program, at Gongshan Hall. A total of 21 interdisciplinary freshman teams participated, each selected as the most promising representative from departmental project-based learning courses.
